Do Good Design

The original First Things First Manifesto (1964) by Ken Garland fairly gets you thinking. Likewise the recently published book Do Good Design by David Berman (2009) AIGA offers very interseing food for thought.

On Trial 1 March 2010

Monday's On Trial with BA(Hons) Graphic Design first year students....wow.
The quality of debate was strong - notion of quotation in graphic design ...some clever thinking and some superb body language. Lucy's photographs captured the spirit of the event very effectively. The images evidence how hands played their part in the communication arena.
Thanks go to all involved - commendable work.

Student Volunteering work

The recent event that showcased AUCB students' volunteering work was quite an eye opener...students are undertaking a range of work across a variety of very challenging contexts.
Their committment to support others is commendable and opportunities available are diverse. The Creative Interventions Project that investigates such work is revealing interesting case studies.
Emails received throughout the day reveal how some students appear to be thinking of assignment work at very different times of the day...and night.
With i-phones there come more emails. The ease of tapping in queries appears to have quickened communication and the expectation perhaps of faster and faster response.
So many channels of communication - the odd message received via Facebook rather than through the formal university email system...interesting to see where some work from.
